Mavericks Earn Rematch Win over MSU Denver

DENVER, Colo. – Erin Reichle and Jaylyn Duran each scored 24 points in Colorado Mesa's 70-62 victory over the MSU Denver Roadrunners on Friday evening at the Auraria Events Center in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball action.
 
Reichle was 8-for-12 from the field and 3-for-6 from beyond the three-point arc to tie for the game-high scorer. The three three-pointers cuts her record-breaking mark down to just two to become the all-time leading three-point scorer.
 
The senior added six assists which moves her into fifth place all by herself on the all-time assists chart. Next on the list is Maverick great Pam DeCosta who has 326 assists in her career.
 
Duran was 7-for-18 from the field and 5-for-13 from beyond the arc.
 
As a team, the Mavericks shot 44.4 percent (24-for-54) from the field and nearly as good from the three-point line at 44 percent (11-for-25).
 
Colorado Mesa was stout on the defensive end in the first half, allowing just 16 Roadrunner points on 6-for-29 shooting from the field. MSU Denver shot just 39.3 percent from the field in the contest and made just two three-point baskets.
 
MSU Denver made their move in the third quarter, scoring 29 points. But, Colorado Mesa kept pace scoring 26 points of their own.
 
Mikala Gordon finished with a double-double for the Roadrunners with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
 
Colorado Mesa improves to 14-4 on the season and 8-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference while MSU Denver falls to 12-6 and to 8-4 in the conference as well.
 
The Mavericks will look to run their win streak to four when they head down I-25 to Colorado Springs for a bout with the UCCS Mountain Lions on Saturday night at 5:30.
