Two penalty kicks were all that were scored on Sunday in the contest between Colorado Mesa University and Fort Lewis. That left the game at a 1-1 tie after 120 minutes of action to give the Mavericks their first tie of the season.

Fort Lewis struck first in the 74th minute thanks to Salifu Jatta scoring his first goal of the season. He was able to put the penalty kick past Briley Guarneri to end the scoreless tie. The Mavericks were able to get a penalty kick opportunity of their own four minutes later, and Moshe Perez finished it for his third goal of the season.

CMU finished with the slight lead in the shots department, finishing with 14 to FLC's 11. This included a slight margin of 6-5 in shots on goal. The Mavericks finished with the majority of the corner kick opportunities on the day with 13. The Skyhawks were only able to take four in the game.

Perez finished the game with the most shots taken for the Mavericks with four, two of which came on goal. Roberto Diaz and Malik Mennana contributed two shots a piece in the contest.

Guarneri finished with four saves and one goal allowed for the Mavericks.

CMU moves to 6-1-1 overall on the season and 2-1-1 in the conference. The Mavericks will now hit the road for an early contest against Westminster on Wednesday. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
