Colorado Mesa University's men's soccer team scored early and that was all that was needed to defeat Adams State University on Friday.
Malik Mennana received a pass from
Trentin Atkin in the 28
th minute. Mennana was then able to head it in for his second goal of the season to win the game 1-0.
The Mavericks outshot the Grizzlies 16-3 in the game, including 6-2 in shots on goal. CMU was efficient throughout the match of keeping the pressure on ASU, attempting eight shots in both halves.
CMU also finished the game ahead in corner kicks with an 8-1 margin.
Briley Guarneri was once again in the net for the Mavericks. With the win, he received his 6
th win of the season and his 5
th clean sheet of the year. Guarneri is up to 0.42 goals against average for the season.
The Mavericks will look to continue their win streak as they travel to Durango to take on Fort Lewis College on Sunday.
