TANN RMAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior running back David Tann was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference offensive player of the week after his performance against the Orediggers. Tann rushed for a season-high 197 yards and four touchdowns that included a 69-yarder and a 62-yarder on back-to-back possessions.Â
RIVAS INTS
Senior Dustin Rivas has put the fear into opposing quarterbacks for three years now and isnt stopping during his senior season. Rivas picked off Western State for his 17th career interception, tying the Colorado Mesa all-time mark. He is now tied with Vic Dutandette who played for the Mavericks in 1985-86.Â
RETURNER
Senior Virnel Moon has been a threat to take a kick back in the early season. He leads the conference and ranks 33rd nationally in combined kick returns at 225. He also ranks 31st nationally in kick return average at 28.1.
WE DONT NEED MUCH TIME
The Mavericks are averaging just over 25 minutes of possession per game which ranks last in the conference. Even though they don't have the ball very long, they also are the third highest scoring team in the RMAC.
SETTING THE EDGE
Senior defensive end Blake Nelson leads Colorado Mesa in tackles. Nelson also ranks thrid in the RMAC in both total tackles and tackles per game. He leads the conference in tackles for loss at 5.0.

It's early in the season but its never too early to take a look at the conference standings. Colorado Mesa sits atop the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings at 3-0, with a half-game lead over rival CSU-Pueblo (2-0).Â
DIRTY LAUNDRY
The Mavericks are averaging 12 penalties and 105 yards per game in penalties. They are the most penalized team in the RMAC in terms of both yards and total penalties.Â
