Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Bryce Reedy

Seawolves Take Down Mavericks

Colorado Mesa University went toe to toe with the #22 ranked Sonoma State University on Saturday before a goal in the 55th minute put the Seawolves on top. Sara Van Wagoner was able to get her second goal of the season for SSU, putting it past goalie Emily Signorio.

The Seawolves would add another goal in the second half to win the game 2-0 over the Mavericks. CMU's offense had a hard time getting going, as the team only came away with 5 shots. Meanwhile, SSU was able to rack up 17 shots, including 10 on goal.

The Mavericks were also held without a corner kick for the entirety of the game, while SSU was able to set up 7 against CMU. Signorio received the loss for the Mavericks in her first game of her career, but she came away with 5 saves on the day.

Midfielder Ryanne Parker was the leading shot taker for the Mavericks off the bench, finishing the game with 3 shots on goal. Forward Zoe Peterson was the other Maverick to have a shot in the game, finishing with 2 but only 1 on goal.

CMU will now come home for 2 games this weekend, starting with Texas-Permian Basin on Friday. Kick off is set for 4 p.m.
