Following a tough loss on Friday night against Colorado School of Mines, the Colorado Mesa University men's soccer team was looking for a big win against #18 Regis University. And the team got just that in a huge way, defeating the Rangers 3-0.
Kevin Del Mazo got the scoring going for the Mavericks in the first half when he scored off a free kick from 40 yards out to give CMU the 1-0 lead. Then in the second half the Mavericks kept pushing.
Matthew Miller would score his first of the season at the 60th minute mark off a pass from Del Mazo. Then in the 73rd minute Del Mazo would score his second goal of the day, and his 5th point of the match, off an assist from
Moshe Perez. That gave the Mavericks their third goal of the game.
CMU dominated in the shots category, getting off 16 to the Rangers 8. Of those 16, 12 came on goal while the Rangers only had 2.
It was a physical battle between both teams as a total of 31 fouls were called, including 4 yellow cards.
