Following the Mavericks first win of the season on Friday, the team was looking to continue their win streak heading into Sunday's game against Nebraska-Kearney. Colorado Mesa University did just that with the 2-0 victory Sunday afternoon.
Amanda Wenzel got the scoring started for the Mavericks in the 12th minute with her second goal of the season. It came on a pass from
Zoe Peterson, and Wenzel was able to send it across the box to the opposite side to sneak it past the keeper. The second goal came in the 23rd minute from
Alexis Allard for her first of the season. Those two goals were all that was needed to get the Mavericks their second win of the season.
CMU outshot UNK 15-3 on the day, including 6-1 in shots on goal. The Mavericks also finished with 2 more corner kicks than the Loppers (6-4).
Jessica Jolley got her second clean sheet of the season in as many games for the Mavericks. Jolley finished the game recording 1 save for her second win of the year.
The Mavericks will play Rollins College on Thursday before opening up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play on Sunday against Westminster.
