Colorado Mesa University showed they were a top 25 team in the nation on Friday night, getting their first win of the season. The Mavericks defeated Lubbock Christian University 1-0 in the contest.

Moshe Perez came up big for CMU, scoring his first goal of the season in the first half to open the scoring. The pass came across the goal box from
Kevin Del Mazo, and Perez finished it into the back of the net. Perez finished the game with a game high 10 shot attempts, with 3 of them coming on goal.

As a team, the Mavericks outshot LCU 16-5 on the night, including 11-2 in the first half.
Briley Guarneri was in goal for CMU for the entirety of the game. He finished the game with 4 saves and his first clean sheet of the season.

CMU's next opponent will be Newman University on Sunday. NU tied South Dakota School of Mines 0-0 in the game prior to CMU's. NU outshot SDSM 8-6 in the contest but was unable to score. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. at Walker Field.
