Box Score GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – No. 2 Colorado Mesa had plenty of opportunities to scratch across a run but came up short in a 1-0 loss to No. 6 West Chester in the semifinals of the NCAA National Championships at AirHogs Stadium.
 
The game was an absolute pitcher's duel as the Mavericks Taylor Prokopis took the mound against the Golden Rams' Eric Close.
 
Prokopis finished with a solid outing and gave the Mavericks a chance to win. The junior allowed one run on three hits, walked one and struck out two but was saddled with the loss.
 
Close scattered five hits, walked three and struck out four to earn the win and move to 6-3 on the season.
 
Both bullpens were equally as good as they combined to allow just three hits, walking two, and striking out seven.
 
West Chester's Robert Knox gave the Golden Rams the first lead of the game on a RBI single the squeaked up the middle and into center field to give them the 1-0 lead.
 
Colorado Mesa had a chance to get on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Mavericks loaded the bases with one out but a strikeout and a fly out ended the threat.
 
The Mavericks would strand the bases loaded again in the bottom of the fifth.
 
In all the Mavericks stranded 14 runners in the game.
 
Zach McLeod and Bligh Madris each finished the game with two hits.
 
Colorado Mesa ends their season with a school record 50-12 record.
