ALAMOSA, Colo. – Sophomore
Kyle Leahy pitched his second complete game shutout of the season, blanking Adams State 4-0 on Friday afternoon in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference baseball action.
Leahy (9-0) allowed just six hits while striking out two in the game. The Erie native allowed multiple baserunners in an inning just one time during the game and reduced his season ERA to 0.78.
Senior
Matt Haggerty put the Mavericks on the board in the top half of the first inning on a single up the middle that scored
JJ Carr to make it 1-0.
Will Dixon added to the total after scoring on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. Dixon reached base on a single to left field to lead off the top of the second inning.
Haggerty drove in his second run of the game in the top of the third on a single to left field, scoring
Bligh Madris on the play to make it 3-0.
Haggerty finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs driven in.
Redshirt sophomore
Bligh Madris drove in the Mavericks final run of the game on a single through the left side of the infield, scoring
JJ Carr.
Madris finished the day 2-for-5 with a run scored and one RBI.
Carr was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Colorado Mesa moves their record to 31-8 on the season and 23-2 in the RMAC. They extended their winning streak to 18 games in a row that spans 31 days.
The Mavericks and Grizzlies will continue their series tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
