Colorado Mesa will play a four-game series with Adams State before heading home for the annual Firework Friday Night game on April 28. The Mavericks have a chance to clinch the RMAC Regular Season Championship outright with a sweep of the Grizzlies. The Mavericks have had success against Adams State since they brought back the program in 2013 and own a 17-2 overall mark in both programs history
The Grizzlies havent fared well during the season they do feature a pair of players that are among the RMAC's best players. Grizzly Evan Weidner is among the top players in terms of batting average with a.386 average and two home runs.Â
Staff ace Josh Keaton was named the RMAC Pitcher of the Week following a complete game shutout of Colorado Mines in the series opener last weekend. Keaton struck out 13 Orediggers and has 23 strikeouts in his last two starts.
LAST WEEKEND
Colorado Mesa earned the four-game sweep of the second place team in the conference in the Regis Rangers. The Mavericks once again limited the top hitting team in the RMAC to a .212 batting average and just an average of three runs per game. Offensively, they hit .410 with six home runs and averaged nine runs per game.
SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
Adams State enters the weekend ranked dead last in both batting average (.289) and ERA (7.74). They do feature one of the RMAC's top hitters in Evan Weidener who has a .386 batting average. The Grizzlies top pitcher, Josh Keaton, was named the RMAC Pitcher of the Week following a complete game, 13 strikeout, shutout of Colorado Mines.Â

Kyle Leahy was named the RMAC Academic Player of the Year. Leahy, a kinesiology major with a 4.0 GPA, leads the RMAC in wins and ERA and ranks in the top five in the country in WHIP.

MAGIC NUMBER
Colorado Mesa has a chance to clinch their 23rd overall RMAC Championship and their sixth championship in a row this weekend. The Mavericks need to win three games to clinch a share of the title and a sweep would give them the outright title and the hosting duties of the RMAC Championship Tournament.
SLUGGERS
Colorado Mesa ranks tops in the South Central Region in slugging percentage at .520. That mark is also 11th best in NCAA Div. II.

WE'RE GOING STREAKING
The Mavericks improved their season long win streak to 17 games after the four-game sweep of the Regis Rangers last weekend. It is the longest streak the Mavericks have had since they won 21 in a row back in 2015.
STRIKEOUT-TO-WALKS
Colorado Mesa moved down one spot to fourth in the country in strikeout to walk ratio at 3.30. The Mavericks have struck out 323 batters and walked just 98. This past weekend the struck out 20 batters while walking just 14. Â
NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Mavericks maintained their No. 11 ranking in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper coaches poll while climbing in the three others. CMU is now No. 10 in the Perfect Game poll and skyrocketed to No. 4 in the D2BaseballNews.com poll. The NCBWA poll moved the Mavericks up two spots to No. 22.Â
ALUMNI UPDATE
2005 Colorado Mesa Maverick Sergio Romo signed a one-year, three million dollar deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Romo spent the first nine seasons of his big league career with the San Francisco Giants and was recently competed in the World Baseball Classic for Team Mexico, his second WBC appearance.
