TAMPA, FLA. –
Olivia Hayden scored five goals to lead the Colorado Mesa University women's lacrosse team to a 10-9 win at Tampa Friday (March 24).
Hayden tallied a hat-trick in the first half for the Mavericks who led 4-2 at the break.
The Spartans closed the gap to one, 6-5, after an unassisted goal by Claire Swanson at 20:18.
CMU answered by scoring four of the next five goals to lead 10-6 with 13:08 remaining.
The Spartans would make a late push scoring the final three goals, but the Mavericks held on for the 10-9 win.
Draw controls were split 10 apiece, and Tampa led 22-16 in draw controls and 30-13 in shots.
Mary Koch scored a pair of goals for CMU, and
Jillian Pfeifer made 10 saves in goal for the Mavs.
Colorado Mesa (6-2) will host Fort Lewis Wednesday (March 29).
