NORTHRIDGE, CALIF. – The Colorado Mesa University beach volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to Cal State-Northridge and No. 2 Pepperdine Thursday (March 23).
Colorado Mesa opened the day with a 4-1 loss to Cal State-Northridge, but the match was closer than the score dictates with four of the five matches decided in three games.
MacKenzie Edwards and
Hattie Gianinetti earned the one win for the Mavericks with a 13-21, 22-20, 15-12 win at No. 3 over Kristey Markle and Autumn Russell.
Taylor Woods and
Abby Ney lost 19-21, 21-15, 15-10 at No. 1, and Hannah Peterman and
Kricket Adleman fell 21-16, 21-23, 15-9 at No. 4.
Samantha Ritter and
Katie Scherr lost 20-22, 21-12, 15-12 at No. 5.
Pepperdine won the second match 5-0, winning each match in straight sets.
The Mavericks closest match came at No. 4 where
Kricket Adleman and
Hana Peterman lost to Anika Wilson and Deahna Kraft 21-11, 21-13.
Colorado Mesa (4-7) will face San Jose State and Concordia (Calif.) Saturday (March 23).
