LONG BEACH, CALIF. - The Colorado Mesa University beach volleyball team earned its second win of the season Tuesday (March 21) defeating Concordia (Calif.).
Taylor Woods and
Abby Ney defeated Amber Rose and Logan Grove 25-23 and 21-19 at No. 1.
"It was a great team win," said
Taylor Woods. "All the games were really close, and I think we competed really well and worked hard. It's and awesome opportunity to come out here to California and play high level volleyball."
The Mavericks also won at No. 2 thanks to a 21-10, 21-16 by
Erin Perez and
Megan Gianinetti.
"It was a great team win because it shows the team's overall improvement and hard work," said
Megan Gianinetti. "Erin and I had a really fun match against Concordia and it was awesome to see the skills we have been practicing come together."
Last season the Mavericks lost to the Eagles 5-0.
CMU's third win came at No. 4.
Kricket Adleman and Hannah Peterman won in three sets (21-8, 11-21, 15-8).
Long Beach State defeated Colorado Mesa 5-0.
Taylor Woods and
Abby Ney lost 21-12, 21-15 at No. 1, and
Erin Perez and
Megan Gianinetti fell 21-12, 21-7 at No. 2.
Zie Edwards and
Hattie Gianinetti lost 21-10, 21-11 at No. 3, and
Kricket Adleman and Hannah Peterman fell 21-15, 21-18 at No. 4.
Samantha Ritter and
Katie Scherr lost 21-16, 21-13 at No. 5.Â
Colorado Mesa (2-5) will play Grossmont Community College and Point Loma Wednesday (March 22).
