PUEBLO, COLO. – Colorado Mesa had four players record hat-tricks in a 20-9 win at CSU-Pueblo in women's lacrosse action Sunday (March 12).
Pueblo opened with an early goal but the two teams were then held scoreless until
Jenny Lange scored back-to-back goals midway through the period.
CSUP pulled within one, 4-3, at 12:51 of the first half, but CMU scored eight straight goals to close the half and lead 12-3.
The second half featured multiple scoring runs by both teams, but Mesa out-scored Pueblo 8-6 over the final 20 minutes.
Lindsi Peters led the Mavs with seven points (four goals, three assists), and
Jenny Lange added four points (three goals, one assist).
Jessica Cook scored four goals, and
Hannah Payton finished with three.
Mesa led in shots (32-22) and ground balls (23-13, but Pueblo led 15-14 in draw controls.
Jillian Pfeifer earned the win for CMU making two saves and allowing three goals. Kiersten Elder made six saves and allowed six goals in the second half.
Colorado Mesa (3-1) will host Lindenwood Tuesday (March 14).
