ALAMOSA, Colo. –
Jaylyn Duran scored a career-high 25 points and helped Colorado Mesa to an 85-56 victory over Adams State on Friday evening at Plachy Hall in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball matchup.
Duran was 9-for-12 from the field including 5-for-6 from beyond the three-point line. She added four rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal. The Pueblo native scored 13 of her 25 points in the second half.
The Mavericks as a team shot 14-for-23 (60.9 percent) from beyond the arc as
Nicole Archambeau and
Erin Reichle each hit three threes in the contest.
Adams State kept it close as they forced 17 Maverick turnovers that led to 20 points.
Colorado Mesa stretched their lead to as many as 31 late in the game as they outscored Adams State 27-12 in the final period of play.
Sydney Small finished the game with 14 points and tied a career-high with six assists.
Archambeau finished with a double-double as she poured in 12 points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
Erin Reichle was the final Maverick in double-digits as she added 11 points and handed out six assists.
Colorado Mesa improved to 17-5 on the season and 14-4 in the conference while Adams State falls to 2-19 on the year and 1-17 in the RMAC.
The Mavericks will be back in action tomorrow night in Durango as they take on Fort Lewis in a crucial Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference showdown.
