DURANGO, Colo. – Colorado Mesa shot a season-worst 27 percent from the field in a 77-50 setback to Fort Lewis on Saturday evening in Whalen Gymnasium in a pivotal Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball matchup.
The 27-point setback is the worst margin of defeat in the tenure of head coach
Taylor Wagner. The next was a 23-point loss to Drury on Nov. 15, 2014.
The Mavericks started out the game in a 21-10 hole after the first period of play and could never recover as Fort Lewis won every period.
Erin Reichle paced the Mavericks with 21 points on 8-of-19 shooting from the field including 5-for-9 from beyond the three-point line.
Junior
Ma'ata Epenisa was the only other Maverick in double-digit scoring as she finished with 15 points and added a team-high six rebounds.
With the setback, the Mavericks are now 17-6 on the season and 14-5 in the conference. They fall into third place just a half-game behind UCCS in second place.
Colorado Mesa will be back at home next Saturday as they take on Black Hills State at 5:30pm in Brownson Arena.
