Women's Hoops Opens Season in Texas

Below are a few quick hitters as the Colorado Mesa women's basketball team opens the season this weekend at the Ashbrook Classic at Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas.

? 1,000 POINT CLUB: Senior Erin Reichle is just 20 points shy of joining the 1,000 point mark for her career. She would become the 18th member of the 1,000 point club at Colorado Mesa.

? NEW TEAM: The Mavericks team this year is comprised of just six returners off of last year's squad with one of those being a redshirt. Those six welcome 11 newcomers with 10 of those being freshman.

? PRESEASON POLL: Colorado Mesa was picked to finish fourth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference by the coaches. Senior guard Erin Reichle was selected to the preseason All-RMAC team.

? MAKE EM COUNT: Colorado Mesa went 14-2 a year ago when they shot a higher percentage from the field then their opponents.

? HEADING HOME: The Mavericks have four players along with head coach Taylor Wagner that will be heading home to play in front of a friends and family.

? LAST TIME OUT VS. MIDWESTERN: The Mavericks and Mustangs have met up twice with both coming in the NCAA Tournament. CMU holds a 2-0 edge with the last meeting coming on March 14, 2014 at West Texas A&M, a 60-49 win.

? FIRST MEETING: This is the first meeting between Colorado Mesa and Cameron.
