RMAC Title Within Reach

BACK-TO-BACK
Senior running back David Tann rushed for 167 yards on Saturday moving him over the 1,000 yard mark for the second straight season. The Cedar Rapids native becomes just the fifth Colorado Mesa running back since 1985 to have multiple 1,000 yard rushing seasons. His 1,167 yards this year currently ranks 11th all-time for a single-season.

BLOCK PARTY
The Mavericks lead the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in blocked kicks with five this season. The mark also ranks fifth nationally with Blake Nelson leading the unit with three blocked kicks.

PUTTING UP POINTS
Colorado Mesa has had an offensive onslaught in the past two weeks. The offense has put up 70 and 77 points in consecutive weeks and you might be thinking they set a new record but just last year they scored 150 points in back-to-back weeks against the same Adams State and New Mexico Highlands teams.

CHAMPIONSHIP MINDSET
The Mavericks have a chance to clinch a share of the RMAC Championships on Saturday with a win over South Dakota Mines. The weekend marks the final conference game for the Mavericks while the other schools have two conference games left. The championship would be the third in a row for the Mavericks.

REGIONAL RANKINGS
Colorado Mesa moved up one spot in this week's NCAA Super Region Four Rankings to No. 6. The only real movement in the rankings came in the top three with Minnesota State defeating No. 1 Winona State, moving Central Washington into the top spot. The top seven teams make the 49 team NCAA Playoff field.

SMART KIDS
Colorado Mesa had 18 football student athlete's recognized on the RMAC Academic Team. Senior defensive end Blake Nelson was honored as the Academic Defensive Player of the Year while Aaron Simons, Austin Beswick and Austin Pitchford all earned a spot on the first team.

NOT LOOKING TOO FAR AHEAD
The Mavericks will head out on the road for the final game of the regular season next week. Colorado Mesa will play a non-conference matchup with GNAC member Azusa Pacific. The Mavericks defeated Azusa Pacific to catapult them into the NCAA Playoffs a year ago.
