After taking a 1-0 lead, the Colorado Mesa University men's soccer team gave up three unanswered goals to fall to UCCS 3-1 in Colorado Springs.
Moshe Perez gave the Mavericks the lead in the first half scoring his sixth goal of the year. The second half, however, was a different story for the Mavericks. First up was a goal in the 47th minute to tie the game up at 1-1. Then, the Mavericks gave up two penalty goals in the 54th and 63rd minute to give the Mountain Lions the two goal lead.
The Mavericks out shot UCCSÂ 18-11 and 6-3 in shots on goal.
Briley Guarneri was in net for the Mavericks and he finished with three goals allowed and zero saves.
The loss moves the Mavericks to 9-2-1 on the season and 5-2-1 in the conference. CMU will look to rebound on Wednesday with a matchup against Westminster. Kick off is set for 5 p.m. at Walker Field.
