GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— The nation's 18
th-ranked Colorado Mesa University Mavericks will travel to Alamosa and Gunnison for a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's swimming duals this weekend. The Mavericks will square-off with the Adams State University Grizzlies in the Plachy Hall Pool on Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock and then compete at Western State Colorado University's Paul Wright Natatorium against the Mountaineers on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Saturday's dual will be streamed and can be accessed by

Â
Only the female Maverick swimmers will be in action as neither of their opponents sponsor a men's program and neither have any divers.
Â
The Maverick women, 2-4 overall, are coming off a strong performance at last week's Air Force Duals, where they dominated RMAC foes Colorado School of Mines (191-46) and CSU-Pueblo (201-37). All four of CMU's dual losses have come against NCAA Division I foes.
Â
The Mavericks have won three straight duals against the Grizzlies, who will be competing in their first meet under new Head Coach Quint Seckler. They were picked in a tie for seventh in the RMAC's Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing seventh at last year's conference meet.
Â
Western State is 1-0 thus far in 2017-18 winning 133-90 at CSU-Pueblo on Oct. 13 in their only inter-squad action of the campaign, their first with Coach Erik Matheson at the helm. The Mountaineers, who dropped two duals to the Mavericks last season, were picked fifth in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing in that same position at last year's RMAC Championships.
Â
Saturday's dual will be a homecoming of sorts for Maverick Coach
Geoff Hanson, who guided the Mountaineers for two seasons before taking over the CMU program for the 2016-17 season. In his first year, the Mavericks went a perfect 4-0 against RMAC foes in dual meets and finished second at the RMAC Championships.   He was named as the RMAC Women's Coach of the Year in 2016 while with the Mountaineers and received the same honor on the men's side in 2017.Â
