The Mavericks traveled down to Durango to take on the Fort Lewis Skyhawks on Friday. CMU comes home empty handed however, falling in the game 3-1.
Fort Lewis jumped out to an early lead with a goal in the fourth minute of action. They would take the 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half it was another early strike from FLC in the 46th minute to take the 2-0 lead. CMU would score their goal in the 79th minute to cut the lead in half 2-1.
Alexis Allard scored her third goal of the season off an assist from
Zoe Peterson. It was a shot from 20 yards out for Allard. However, the comback was cut short with a goal in the 86th minute by FLC to push the game out of reach.
Both teams were nearly even in the shots category. CMU finished with one more overall shot on the day (15-14), but FLC had one more shot on goal (7-6).
Emily Signorio was in net for the Mavericks. She finished with four saves and three goals allowed on the day.
With the loss CMU moves to 6-7-0 on the season and 3-5-0 in the RMAC. They will look to end their three game losing streak on Sunday when they travel to take on Adams State University. Kick off is set for 1 p.m.
