Men's Hoops At Home Tuesday, Saturday

Colorado Mesa returns home for a pair of games this week. Colorado Mesa will host Western State Tuesday (Jan. 31) and Westminster Saturday (Feb. 4). The Mavericks have won three of their last four games. The Mountaineers have lost four of their last five games, and the Griffins are currently on a six game winning streak. 

Record Breaker
CJ Davis became the leader in career 3-pointers last week at South Dakota Mines. Davis has made 156 career 3-pointers, breaking the previous mark of 155 set by Jeremy Cummings (2001-05). He leads the league and ranks eighth in Div. II in 3-point attempts with 180. 

Higher Field Goal Percentage
Colorado Mesa shot better than South Dakota Mines last week. The Mavericks are 5-3 this season when it shoots better than its opponents and 1-12 when it shoots worse. 

Rebounds
Colorado Mesa is 2-0 this season when it out-rebounds its opponent and 4-15 when it is out-rebounded. 

Turnovers
Colorado Mesa is winless (0-4) this season when it commits more turnovers than its opponents. The Mavericks are 6-11 when it commits the same or fewer turnovers than their opponents. CMU ranks second in the RMAC in turnovers per game (12.0) and third in turnover margin (2.4). 

Double Digit Scoring
Eimer Lopez's streak of scoring in double digits came to end Saturday against South Dakota Mines after he scored nine points. Lopez scored in double digits for nine straight games averaging 17.3 points per game. He leads the team averaging 14.0 points per game.

Home Court Advantage
Five of CMU's next seven games will be at home. The Mavericks are 4-4 this season at Brownson Arena. 

Looking Ahead
Colorado Mesa will hit the road for games at Adams State (Feb. 10) and Fort Lewis (Feb. 11).
