RAPID CITY, S.D. – Colorado Mesa came from behind and held on in the final seconds for the 59-58 win over the South Dakota Mines Hardrockers on Saturday afternoon at the King Center in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball matchup.
South Dakota Mines had the ball with 17.4 seconds left and missed a pair of shots but possessed the ball on a jump ball situation with 2.2 seconds remaining. The Hardrockers got a shot by Sami Steffeck rimmed out to give the Mavericks the win.
The Hardrockers led by seven in the third quarter and finally surrendered the lead for the final time with 1:30 to go in the game.
Ma'ata Epenisa led the Mavericks with 20 points and six rebounds. Epenisa continues to shoot at a high percentage, making 9-of-12 shots on the night.

Bryanna Adams bounced back from an off night to finish with 14 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Hardrocker Anna Haugen put up 11 points and finished the double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds.
The Mavericks improved to 14-5 on the season and 11-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference while South Dakota Mines fell to 9-12 on the season and 7-9 in the conference.
Colorado Mesa will return home and get right back to work for Tuesday's matchup with Western State at 5:30pm in Brownson Arena.
