SPEARFISH, S.D. – Colorado Mesa committed a season-high 20 turnovers in a 64-56 loss to the Black Hills State Yellowjackets at the Donald Young Center in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball contest.
The 25 turnovers led to 25 Yellowjacket points while Black Hills State committed 17 turnovers themselves but the Mavericks could only muster 15 points off those turnovers.
Black Hills State's defense wore down the Mavericks. BHSU limited the Mavericks to 39 percent from the field and more impressively limited the RMAC's leading scorer
Bryanna Adams to just one point.
The one point snaps a streak of 20 straight games where Adams had scored in double figures. She was 0-for-5 from the field.
Erin Reichle kept the Mavericks in the game, scoring a game-high 15 points while teammate
Sydney Small added 13 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Nicole Archambeau pulled down a game-high seven boards but the Mavericks lost the rebounding battle 34-31.
Black Hills State was led by Rachel Erickson who scored 13 points and grabbed four rebounds.
The Mavericks fell to 13-5 on the season and 10-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference while Black Hills improved to 8-11 and 8-7 in the conference.
