LAKEWOOD, COLO. – The Colorado Mesa University women's basketball team scored a season-high 103 points in a 103-72 win at Colorado Christian Saturday (Jan. 14).
The last time Colorado Mesa eclipsed the century mark was in 2011 when they scored 107 against Oklahoma Panhandle.
The Mavericks tied the school-record by shooting 61.7-percent (37-60) from the field. CMU's shooting was even better further from the basket shooting 74-percent (20-27) from behind the arc.
Bryanna Adams led four Mavericks in double figures with 28 points. Adams came up one shy of tying the school record for 3-pointers in a game shooting 7-of-10 from behind the arc. She was one rebound shy of a double-double.
Ma'ata Epenisa made all 12 of her shots to finish with a career-high 26 points.
Erin Reichle dished out 11 assists to compliment 11 points for the non-traditional double-double.
Mikala Gordon paced the Cougars with 20 points.
After a first quarter that ended tied at 20, the CMU defense stepped up holding CCU to 37-percent (6-16) over the next 10 minutes.
The Mavs shot 62-percent (10-16) from the field and led 45-39 at the break.
Mesa's offense was on fire in the third quarter shooting 62-percent (10-16) from the field and draining all six 3-point attempts.
The Cougars were held to 30-percent (4-13) from the field but hung around thanks to 13-of-15 (86-percent) shooting from the line.
CMU was nearly automatic from the field in the fourth as they out-scored CCU 29-17. Mesa shot 10-of-12 (83-percent) from the field and 5-of-6 (83-percent) from deep. CCU shot 37-percent (6-16) from the field.
The Mavs won the rebounding battle 36-27.
Colorado Mesa (11-4, 8-3) will host MSU Denver Friday (Jan. 20).
