GOLDEN, COLO. – Colorado Mines drained 16 3-pointers in an 89-67 win over the Colorado Mesa University men's basketball team Friday (Jan. 13).
The Orediggers shot 51-percent from behind the arc, 53-percent from the field (29-54) and 78-percent (15-19) from the line.
CSM was nearly automatic from the field in the field shooting 78-percent (18-23) to lead 52-26 at the half.
CMU by comparison shot 42-percent (11-26) over the first 20 minutes.
The Orediggers cooled off in the second half shooting 35-percent (11-31) from the field. All 11 of Mines field goals in the second were from behind the arc where CSM was 11-of-13 (84-percent).
Mesa out-scored Mines 41-37 in the second half.
Eimer Lopez led the Mavericks with 22 points.
Tanner Riley added 11, and
Connor Nichols contributed 10.
Luke Schroepfer led five Orediggers in double figures with 20 points.
Mines finished with a 37-23 rebounding edge.
Colorado Mines (3-13, 2-8) will play at Colorado Christian Saturday (Jan. 14).
