LAST WEEKEND
Colorado Mesa finished the Colorado Mines Oredigger Classic with a 2-2 record. CMU fell to its nationally ranked opponents in No. 6 Wayne State and No. 13 Nebraska-Kearney by matching 3-1 scores before a 3-0 win against Dallas Baptist and a 3-1 win over UIndy.
Senior right side
Gabriela Dias was named to the All-Tournament team after recording 50 kills and having an attack percentage of .300. She recorded a career-high 14 kills in the matches against Wayne State and Nebraska-Kearney.
UPCOMING MATCHES
The Mavericks will head to Stephenville, Texas for the Tarleton State TexAnn Invitational on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, CMU will take on Lubbock Christian for the first time in program history before a showdown with host Tarleton State. The Mavericks ended Tarleton's season last year in the NCAA South Central Region Tournament.
On Saturday, Colorado Mesa will take on Eastern New Mexico and Texas A&M-Commerce to close out the tournament and the non-conference portion of the schedule.
SETTING
The Mavericks utilized three setters equally throughout the Oredigger Classic last weekend. Freshman
Samantha Ritter finished the weekend with the most assists with 77 and a 9.62 assist per set with senior
Ali Svorinic finishing with 36 assists and sophomore
Hana Peterman had 57 assists.
BLOCKING
One of the biggest discrepancies on the weekend was the blocking numbers. The Mavericks were outblocked 36-24 including a 14-3 margin in the match against Wayne State.
NEXT WEEKEND
The Mavericks will open up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play with a split weekend. They will be on the road against Western State on Thursday before hosting Westminster on Saturday to open up conference play.
