Colorado Mesa University will make its home debut Saturday (Sept. 10) when it hosts Chadron State. Both teams won their season openers last weekend.

Colorado Mesa debuted at No. 25 in the American Football Coaches Association National Poll this week. This marks the first time the Mavericks have been ranked since Nov. 16, 2015 when they were ranked 21st. Chadron State is not ranked in this weeks poll. Colorado Mines is ranked 11th, CSU-Pueblo 19th and non-conference opponent Azusa Pacific is 24th.
Series History
Chadron State leads the all-time series 19-6, and the Eagles have won 11 of the 13 games played in Grand Junction. Colorado Mesa defeated Chadron State 23-13 last season in Nebraska.

Quarterback
Sean Rubalcaba threw the ball well in Colorado Mesa's win at Western State last week. The Grand Junction, Colo., native completed 72.7-percent (24-33) of his passes, 13th best in Div. II. He ranks 16th nationally in yards per pass attempt (9.88) and 17th in passing yards with 326.
Ground Game
Running back
David Tann ran for a team-high 82 yards (5.9 ypc) against the Mountaineers and scored a game-high two touchdowns. His 12 points ranks 22nd in Div. 22 this season. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native caught one pass for 37 yards to finish with a team-high 119 yards of total offense.
Defense
The CMU defense held WSCU to 168 yards of passing offense and 188 yards rushing. The defense held RMAC Co-Preseason Player of the Year Austin Ekeler to 110 yards rushing.

Colorado Mesa enters this weekends contest as the top punt return defenses in the league at 0.0 yards per return. Colorado Mesa will be put to the test with Chadron State who is averaging a league-best 20.0 yards per return.
