DURANGO, COLO. – The Colorado Mesa men's soccer team started the weekend off with a 1-0 win against the Fort Lewis Skyhawks on Friday (Sept. 30) in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference showdown.
Roy Abergil completed the first goal late in the game to secure the win for the Mavericks. The goal was created off a free kick from
Moshe Perez who crossed in a pass in the 81
st minute.
The playing field was even today as the Skyhawks barely outshot the Mavericks 16-14, the Mavericks led with 7-3 shots on goal.
CMU took seven corner kicks, while FLC took just two.
Briley Guarneri gained his fourth shutout of the season, with three saves.
Colorado Mesa (5-1-3, 5-0-1) will host Adams State Sunday (Oct. 2).
