Colorado Mesa stormed back and evened the score in the fourth inning after scoring two in the second, one in the third and two in the fourth.

Lubbock Christian took the lead for good after a pinch hit home run in the top half of the seventh inning gave the Chaps an 8-5 lead.

The Mavericks scored one in the ninth but that was all they could muster.

Colorado Mesa had four of their nine hits go for extra bases.

Senior outfielder Alex Fife went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored while Andrew Contreras went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs driven in and a run scored.

Freshman John Beaudrie came in relief and pitched six and a third innings including five and two-thirds straight scoreless. He allowed two runs on six hits, striking out two but was tagged with the loss.
