GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University women's lacrosse earned a 13-5 win Saturday (April 9) against CSU-Pueblo.
Colorado Mesa used multiple three goal runs and a five-goal effort from
Jessica Cook to give Colorado Mesa an 8-3 lead in the first half.
The Thunderwolves scored the first two goals of the second half, but the Mavericks responded with five straight goals for the win.
Shots were close as the Thunderwolves edged out the Mavs 27-26. Each team had 20 shots on goal.
The Mavericks led 28-24 in groundballs.
CMU was able to win the draw control battle winning 12 to CSU-Pueblos nine.
Colorado Mesa man-up was perfect as they were able to convert on both of the man-up opportunities they had.
The Mavs had nine different goal scorers in the game.
Jessica Cook led CMU in goals with five goals.
Kayla Lyall led the Mavs in points with seven points, six of which were assists.
Kady Herzog started the game in goal making four saves and allowing three goals.
Jillian Pfeifer started the second half allowing two goals and making 11 saves.
Colorado Mesa (8-3, 3-2) returns to action Sunday (April 10) as they host Adams State.
