GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's lacrosse earned a 20-11 win Friday (April 29) against Westminster.
The first half stayed tight as Colorado Mesa would have a four goal lead half way through the first.
Westminster would answer with a four goal run of their own.
The first half would end with the Mavs up 10-9.
CMU took control of the second half scoring ten goals and holding Westminster to only two.
Shot favored the Mavs, out shooting the Griffins 35-30.
Colorado Mesa had 29 shots on goal compared to Westminster's 27.
The ground ball battle was won by the Griffins who out scooped the Mavericks 21-15.
CMU won the draw control battle winning 22 compared to Westminster's 11.
Lexi Chavez and Ashely Eickhoff led CMU in points with six points each.
Jessica Cook led the Mavs in goals with five goals on the night.
Jillian Pfeifer started for CMU making three saves, which resulted in Pfeifer's 100
th save of the season, and allowed seven goals.
Kady Herzog came in part way through the first and closed out the game making 13 saves and allowing four goals.
Colorado Mesa (11-3, 5-2) will take part in the RMAC tournament.
