PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa woman's lacrosse team earned a 12-10 win Sunday (April 3) at CSU-Pueblo.
The first half each team traded multi-goal runs with CSUP going on a four goal run to give them a 4-2 lead. CMU would come back with a three goal run of their own to end the half up 5-4.
The second half mimicked the first with each team trading multiple goal runs. A run late in the half gave CMU a three goal lead for the win.
The Mavs finished with a narrow 26-25 edge in shots over the Thunderwolves. 22 of Mesa's shots were on goal compared to 19 for Pueblo.
The Mavericks edged out the Thunderwolves in draw controls winning 13 compared to the Thunderwolves 10.
Pueblo led 25-22 in ground balls.
Olivia Hayden led the Mavericks in points with five thanks to a hat trick.
Jessica Cook scored four goals to lead the Mavs.
Jillian Pfeifer earned the win in goal making nine saves and allowing all 10 CSUP goals.
Colorado Mesa (7-3, 2-2) takes on CSU-Pueblo in a rematch at Walker Field Saturday (April 9).
