Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – For the second straight game, the Colorado Mesa baseball team erupted for double-digit runs in a 15-4 win over Colorado Christian on Sunday afternoon at Suplizio Field. The win gave the Mavericks the season sweep over the Cougars and improved their record to 37-7 on the season and 27-4 in the RMAC.
Colorado Mesa scored 15 runs on 19 hits with eight of those are coming for extra bases.
Alex Fife made the most of his final regular season game at Suplizio Field. Fife finished the game 2-for-2 with two runs scored, three runs driven in and a pair of home runs. His first home run came in the second inning with his second, a no-doubter to right field that landed three rows deep in the parking lot beyond the right field wall.
James Young III also had a memorable senior day, finishing the game 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and three runs driven in. Young had a double in the first inning that helped jump start the Maverick offense.
Garrett Ball finished the game with four hits and
Ben Chamberlin had three hits with a pair of doubles.
Senior
Matt Allen got the start and earned the win in his final regular season game at Suplizio Field. Allen went five innings and allowed one unearned run on four hits, walked one and struck out four to improve to 4-0 on the season.
The Mavericks will be on the road for the final six games of the regular season. They will start out in Denver on Friday when they take on the MSU Denver Roadrunners at the Regency Athletic Complex.
