SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH –
Jessica Cook and
Kayla Lyall each scored their 100th career point for the Colorado Mesa University women's lacrosse team in a 20-10 win at Westminster Saturday (April 23).
Cook led the Mavericks with a game-high six goals and one assist. Lyall tallied three assists.
Amanda Barton scored the first two goals of the game for CMU, but Westminster added back-to-back goals to tie the game.
Amanda Barton earned the hat-trick with the first of five straight goals for CMU to end the half. CMU led 9-4 at halftime.
Mesa scored seven of the first nine goals in the second half and scored the final four goals of the game for the win.
The Griffins led in shots (32-31), ground balls (15-11) and draw controls (19-13).
Lexie Chavez netted a hat-trick to join Barton and Cook as CMU players with three or more goals.
Jillian Pfeifer earned the win making 11 saves in 35 minutes of work.
Kady Herzog made five saves in relief work for the Mavs.
Daisy Mele led WC with three goals.
The two teams will close the regular season with a rematch on April 29th.
