GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. – The Colorado Mesa University softball team extended its winning streak to 19 games with a sweep of Colorado Mines Saturday (April 2). Mesa won game one 7-4 and game two 9-1.
Brooke Hodgson gave CMU a dramatic come from behind win in game one thanks to a three-run walk-off homerun in the bottom of the seventh.
After two scoreless innings, Mines manufactured four runs on five hits in the third.
The Mavs were shutout until the sixth inning when they plated three runs on three hits, all singles.
Makayla Kovac doubled to drive in the tying run in the seventh, before Hodgson blasted the game-winning homerun.
CMU opened game two with one run in the second, but Mines answered with a run of their own in the top of the third.
Mesa scored two runs in the third and one in the fourth before exploding for five in the fifth. Mesa took advantage of Mine's miscues in the inning. The Orediggers committed two errors, hit two batters, walked one and had one pass ball in the inning. The Mavs recorded three hits, all singles, in the inning.

Rochelle Talamantes earned her fifth win of the season, allowing just one run on one hit.
Colorado Mesa (22-7, 21-1) and Colorado Mines (14-17, 12-12) will close out the season series Sunday (April 3).Â
