Box Score 2 GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Fourth-ranked Colorado Mesa split a doubleheader with the Adams State Grizzlies on Saturday afternoon at Suplizio Field. The Mavericks are now 27-5 on the season and 1702 in the RMAC.
In game one, Adams State's Dillon Bollig hit a home run in the top of the tenth inning to give the Grizzlies a 3-2 win over Colorado Mesa.
The Mavericks stranded nine runners and could only garner one hit in every inning.
Nick Borowski took the tough luck loss after pitching the final five and two-thirds innings of relief. He allowed one run on three hits, walked one and struck out eight.
John Ballard led Colorado Mesa with three hits and stole a pair of bases while
Ben Chamberlin had a pair of hits and also stole two bases.
In game two, a pair of bunts in the sixth inning fueled Colorado Mesa's 3-1 win over Adams State.
Kyle Serrano's safety squeeze bunt scored
John Ballard from third to tie the game at 1-1.
Two batters later,
Greg Reynolds safety squeezed in
Kyle Serrano to give the Mavericks the decisive 3-1 edge. Reynolds finished the game with two hits.
Lane LaCrone also had two hits for the Mavericks.

Tanner Herdt and Grizzly Josh Keaton had a pitching duel on the mound
Herdt pitched the complete game and allowed one run on three hits, walked six and struck out nine to earn his fifth win of the season.
Keaton allowed three runs on six hits, walked two and struck out nine in six innings of work.
The two teams will conclude the series tomorrow afternoon with a single nine-inning game at Suplizio Field beginning at 12pm.
