GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Four Colorado Mesa pitchers combined to shutout the Regis Rangers on Sunday afternoon in a 6-0 win for the Mavericks at Suplizio Field.
The Maverick pitchers combined to allow eight hits and strike out 12 without allowing any walks.
Colorado Mesa didn't allow a runner past second base and just three Rangers reached second base.
Jarrett Bott earned the win, pitching two and one-thirds innings and allowed one hit while striking out four. The win was his first as a Maverick.
Nick Borowski earned his fifth save of the season pitching the final two and two-thirds innings. He allowed just two hits while striking out five.
Colorado Mesa took the early lead with a RBI single by
Ben Chamberlin in the first inning to give the Mavericks a 1-0 lead.
The score would remain that way until the eighth inning where the Mavericks would erupt for five runs in the inning.
Zach McLeod highlighted the inning when he delivered a bases clearing double.
The Mavericks improved to 34-7 on the season and 24-4 in the RMAC while the Rangers fell to 15-21 and 9-15 in the conference.
Colorado Mesa will close out the home portion of the regular season next weekend when they take on the Regis Rangers. Friday night will be 'Fireworks Friday Night' presented by Alpine Bank with fireworks following the game.
