WEEKEND RECAP
Colorado Mesa took three-of-four games from the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves last weekend and took sole possession of first place in the RMAC standings. The Mavericks limited the RMAC's top hitting team to a .179 batting average and just two runs a game. The Mavericks batted .343 with 11 doubles, a triple, and a home run. They also fielded .992 on the field turf infield, committing just one error.

RMAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Junior righty Tanner Herdt was named the RMAC Pitcher of the Week after his performance against CSU-Pueblo. Herdt pitched a complete game, one-hit shutout of the ThunderWolves, allowing just a double in the first inning in the third game of the series. Herdt ranks second in the country in hits allowed per game and ninth in ERA.

THEIVES
Colorado Mesa leads the RMAC in stolen bases with 56 steals in 71 attempts. James Young III leads the Mavericks with 14 stolen bases while John Ballard is 9-for-9 in just 23 games played.

ERA
Colorado Mesa's team ERA of 2.67 ranks sixth in NCAA Div. II and is behind national leader Cal Baptist who has a 2.30 ERA. Freshman JR McDermott ranks third in the country in ERA at 0.77 and is behind national leader Placido Torres of Tusculum who sits at a 0.58 ERA.

DEFENSE
The Maverick defense has a .977 fielding percentage on the season which is tops in the RMAC and second best in Div. II this season. They have committed just 30 errors in 37 games.

LESS THEN FIVE RUNS
When the Colorado Mesa pitching and  defensive units limit opponents to less then five runs, the Mavericks are 29-3 on the season.

COACHING
Head coach Chris Hanks won his 700th game for the Mavericks on February 19 in a 5-4 win over Cal Baptist. He has spent his entire 17 year coaching career at Colorado Mesa and has won 11 RMAC Championships and two NCAA Regional titles.

PROTECTING THE HOUSE
Suplizio Field has been very kind to the Mavericks for several seasons now. The Mavericks are 116-15 the past four seasons including the 27-5 record last season. They have not been shutout at home in 377 straight games dating back to the 2004 season (L 0-3 Western Oregon, Feb. 14).

RMAC TOURNAMENT IN 2015
Colorado Mesa claimed their second consecutive RMAC Tournament Championship, defeating MSU Denver 7-6 on a walk-off home run by Alex Fife. It is the the Mavericks 11th RMAC Tournament Championship, most by any school in the conference. 

REGIONAL TOURNAMENT
The Mavericks hosted the NCAA South Central Regional for the second straight season and went 1-2 in the tournament. The Mavericks fell to St. Mary's then went on to defeat St. Edward's before falling to eventual champion Angelo State.

ON DECK
Colorado Mesa will continue their seven-game homestand with a three-game series with Colorado Christian at Suplizio FIeld. Friday night will be Fireworks Friday Night presented by Alpine Bank at 6:05pm.
