GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa ran past Nyack for a 23-6 win Wednesday (March 9).
The Mavs showed their dominance in the first half leading the warriors 15-4. The Mavs held the Warriors to only two goals in the second half and netting eight of their own.
Shots heavily favored the Mavs as they out-shot the warriors 44-12. The Mavs held the Warriors to only three shots in the second half.
Ground balls were also heavily favored for the Mavs as they scooped up 32 ground balls compared to the Warriors 13 ground balls.
Draw controls for each team were even with each team winning 15.
Turnovers were an issue for the Warriors as the turned over the ball 27 times, while the Mavs only turned over 13 balls.
Jessica Cook led the Mavs in goals with seven goals on the afternoon, setting a team- and season-high.
Cook and
Lexie Chavez led the Mavs in points, both having eight-point games also setting team- and season-highs.
12 Mavs finished with at least one point against the Warriors.
Jillian Pfeifer started the first half stopping five shots and only allowing four goals for the win.
Kady Herzog started the second half stopping one shot and allowing two goals.
Colorado Mesa is back in action as it takes on Oklahoma Baptist Monday (March 14) at Walker Field.
