PHOENIX – The Colorado Mesa University beach volleyball team closed out its season-opening weekend Saturday (March 5).

Grand Canyon swept all five matches in straight sets.

Kricket Adleman and Megan Gianineti fell 22-20 and 21-14 at No. 5.

Arizona State defeated Colorado Mesa in all five matches.

Kricket Adleman and Megan Gianineti pushed the match at No. 3 to three sets. Madison Berridge and Bethany Wedepohl won the first set 21-18, but Adleman and Gianineti won
the second set in extra points 24-22. ASU won the decisive set 15-11.

The Mavericks had a strong match at No. 2. Kwyn Johnson and Logan Rae won the first set 21-12, but Hana Peterman and Naomi Pinnecoose pushed the second set to extra points before falling 24-22.

Colorado Mesa (0-6) will play four matches at New Mexico March 18-19.
