COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University softball team completed the series sweep of UCCS with a 9-0 win in game one and a 13-4 win in game two on Sunday (March 13) to improve to 15-1 in the RMAC and 16-7 overall.

McKenzie Surface held the Mountain Lions to four hits and struck out five batters in the first game of the day.

CMU scored two runs in the first inning before exploding for six runs in the second inning.
Kellie Mrofcza started the second with a homerun.
Zoe Pakes and
Kaila Jacobi both hit doubles to make it 8-0.

Brooke Hodgson sealed the win with a homerun of her own in the fourth inning to defeat UCCS 9-0.

Sarah Phillis got things going for the Mavs in the second game. She homered in the second inning to put the Mavs up 1-0.

CMU kept up the momentum to lead 7-0 in the top of the third before UCCS scored two runs in the bottom of the third.

The Mavs would only allow the Mountain Lions to score two more times in the game while they would go on to score six more runs through six innings.

Four players for CMU finished with two or more hits.

Alexandria Dufour led the way with four hits and two RBIs, and
Nicole Robinson finished with three hits and a RBI.

CMU forced seven UCCS errors and the pitching of
Joslynn Lopez and
Rochelle Talamantes allowed eight hits.
Joslynn Lopez earned the win to improve to 4-0 this season.
