GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –
Zach McLeod's single down the left field line in the bottom of the tenth inning gave the third-ranked Colorado Mesa Mavericks a 2-1 win over the visiting 13
th-ranked Dixie State Red Storm on Friday afternoon at Suplizio Field.
Dixie State got on the board first in the top half of the sixth inning on a chopped single through the left side by left fielder Miles Bice.
The Mavericks evened the game in the bottom of the eighth after the Red Storm second baseman made an errant throw to first base scoring
Alex Fife on the play.
Colorado Mesa loaded the bases in the bottom of the tenth on an error, an infield single, and a hit-by-pitch that led to McLeod's heroics.
Tyler Ehlers earned the win in relief, pitching the final five innings of the game. Ehlers allowed one run on two hits, walked two and struck out two to improve to 1-0 on the season.
Red Storm starter Dylan File was excellent for the visitors. File went seven and two-thirds and allowed one unearned run on four hits, walked one and struck out eight.

James Young III all finished the game with two hits.
The Mavericks and Red Storm will continue the series tomorrow afternoon at Suplizio Field at 12pm in a doubleheader.
