Hanks Earns Win Number 700 in Split

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Colorado Mesa and Cal Baptist split a doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Totman Field. The win in the opening game of the day gave Maverick head coach Chris Hanks his 700th victory in his career.

In game one, Nick Borowski pitched the final four and two-thirds innings of shutout baseball to earn the win in a 5-4 ball game. The win was Borowski's second win of the season in relief for Colorado Mesa. He allowed just four hits and struck out eight while facing 17 batters.

The Mavericks and Lancers played the first eight innings to a 4-4 tie.

Bligh Madris drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the ninth inning to force in Alex Fife from third base for the winning run.

James Young III finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored and two runs driven in. He hit his first home run of the season in the second inning to give the Mavericks a 4-2 lead at the time.
