RAPID CITY S.D. – C.J. Davis scored 22 points and made 5-of-7 from the three point line to lead the Colorado Mesa men's basketball team to an 85-66 win over South Dakota Mines Saturday night.
The Mavs took control of the game early and led 46-27 at half. They shot 40.6 (13-for-32) percent from the field and 46.2 (6-for-13) percent from the three-point line while keeping the Hardrockers scoreless from behind the arc (0-for-10) and 35.5 (11-for-31) percent from the field.
CMU finished the game shooting 45 (9-for-20) percent from the three-point line and 90.3 (28-for-31) percent from the free throw line.
The Mavs forced 21 Hardrocker turnovers, which were converted into 21 points compared to eight turnovers by the Mavericks resulting in 12 points.
Ryan Stephan had a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. He was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
Brandon Hoffer and
Kabir West also scored in double digits with 14 and 11 points respectively.
Konor Kulas led South Dakota Mines with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
The Mavericks will look to improve their record next weekend when they host Chadron State and Regis in Brownson Arena on Friday and Saturday night.
