LAST WEEKEND
Colorado Mesa dropped back-to-back home matches for the first time since 2012 when they fell to MSU Denver 3-1 and UCCS 3-2 this past weekend. The Roadrunners benefitted from 11 total blocks that led to a Maverick hitting percentage of .133.
Against UCCS, Colorado Mesa committed 53 total errors in the 3-2 loss to the Mountain Lions. Mackenzie Edwards had 18 kills in the loss for CMU.
UPCOMING MATCHES
The Mavericks will have a rematch with No. 17 MSU Denver on Tuesday. It will be the second matchup between the two teams in just a four day span. Colorado Mesa's final opponent of the regular season will occur on Saturday against Regis. CMU dropped a five-setter to the Rangers back on Sept. 23.
RMAC STANDINGS
The Mavericks can clinch no worse then the No. 3 seed with a win against either MSU Denver or Regis this week. The RMAC Tournament begins next Tuesday at campus sites of the top four seeds.
ACADEMIC AWARD
Sophomore Mackenzie Edwards was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team for her play on the court and her work in the classroom. Edwards maintains a 4.0 GPA and is earning her degree in Mass Communications. She also leads the team in kills and is second in digs and is now eligible to become an Academic All-American.
RANKED OPPONENTS
Colorado Mesa is 1-3 this season against AVCA nationally ranked opponents. The dropped the first two matches of the season to ranked opponents before defeating Colorado Mines on Oct. 15. Colorado Mesa will have a rematch with MSU Denver on Tuesday whom they lost to 3-1 last Friday (Nov. 8).
LAST HOME LOSS
The Mavericks went 362 days without losing at home until Friday's loss to MSU Denver. Their last loss at home came on November 7, 2015 when they lost 3-2 to No. 22 Colorado Mines.
NATIONAL POLL
After a pair of losses, the Mavericks are on the outside of the rankings looking in. MSU Denver moved up to No. 17 while Colorado Mines sits at No. 21.
