Colorado Mesa will open the 2016-17 season at the RMAC vs. Heartland Conference Shootout. Mesa will face Dallas Baptist Friday (Nov. 11) and St. Edward's Saturday (Nov. 12).

Returning Scorers
Colorado Mesa returns two of its top three scorers from a year ago. 
Eimer Lopez, who was selected to the All-RMAC Preseason Team, averaged 12.6 points per game and shot 49.8-percent from the field. 
CJ Davis averaged 12.8 points per game and lead the team in 3-pointers. Davis ranked 18th in Div. II last year in 3-point attempts (245) and 19th in 3-point field goals per game (3.23). 
Div. I Transfers
The Mavericks welcome a pair of Div. I transfers. 
James Sylvester comes to Grand Junction from Coppin State where he averaged 10.0 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Filip Nowiicki joins the Mavericks from Sacred Heart where he played two years. 
Swedish 3-Pointers
Newcomer 
Ludvig Saldh will be a great outside shooting option for the Mavericks. The freshman from Gothenburg, Sweden won the 3-point shooting contest at the CMU Midnight Madness by draining 19-of-25 shots. 
Free Throws
Colorado Mesa shot 76.6-percent from the line last year, second best in the RMAC and 17th in NCAA Div. II. 
Shoot 50-Percent
CMU was 10-0 last season when it shot 50-percent or higher and 11-0 when it held its opponent to under 40-percent. 
Keep it Low
Colorado Mesa was 9-1 in 2015-16 when it held its opponents to under 70 points. 
Picked Sixth
CMU was picked to finish sixth in the 2016-17 RMAC Preseason Coach's Poll. The Mavericks finished third last season with a 16-6 league record.

Colorado Mesa will face Dine College and Wayland Baptist in the Comfort Inn Classic Nov. 17-18 in Gunnison, Colo.
