GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. - The Colorado Mesa University men's soccer team rallied for a 3-1 win over Colorado Christian Sunday (Oct. 9).
The win lifts CMU to 7-0-1 in the RMAC and 8-1-3 overall while CCU falls to 1-7-0 in league play and 1-10-0 overall.
The Mavericks trailed going into the second half 1-0, after Blake Goodale headed in his fifth goal of the season in the 17th minute.
The Mavericks out-shot the Cougars 28-6, including 14-1 in shots on goal, but would not score until the second half.
Colorados Mesa's first goal came from Maliik Mennana in the 50th minute with a shot from 18 yards out. He was assited by
Slater Elkind.
The Maverick second goal came off a penalty kick by
Roy Abergil to put the Mavericks ahead 2-1.
The third goal for the Mavericks came in the 77th minute when Maliik Mennana sent a pass to
Roy Abergil who finished from 15 yards out for his second goal of the game. This is his sixth game this season that
Roy Abergil has scored multiple goals.
The Mavericks will host Westminster College Wednesday (Oct. 12).
