Box Score DENVER, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa Mavericks defeated the Colorado Christian Cougars 2-1 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's soccer match Friday afternoon at Trailblazer Stadium.
Colorado Christian led going into the second half, after gaining their lone goal in the 17
th minute. The goal for the Cougars was made by sophomore Mollie Monson.
The second half of the game was controlled by the Mavericks, when they tied up the game in the 51
st minute.
Mackenzie King scored her first goal of the season with a rocket from 30 yards out into the upper right corner.
Jocelyn Ceccarelli had a left footed strike off a rebound, to complete the game winning goal in the 58
th minute.
The Mavericks totaled 17 shots, 10 being on goal, while the Cougars had seven shots, three on goal.
Goalkeeper for CMU
Katelyn Houston had two saves, while CCU goalkeeper Mallory VanVoorhis had eight.
The Mavericks will play in Golden against Colorado School of Mines on Sunday (Oct. 9) at 12 pm.
